ABOUT US
Welcome to Family Connections!

The Nova Scotia Council for the Family is pleased to introduce Family Connections, an electronic directory of Family Resource programs in Nova Scotia.  The programs listed in this directory are based on a list provided by the Department of Community Services and supplemented by programs operated by Council members. We hope you will find our work a helpful starting point in connecting with resources for children and families across Nova Scotia. It is meant to be a useful tool for staff and volunteers of resource programs as well as the general public.

The information on this site was collected in the fall of 2003 and while every attempt was made to verify the content, it is possible that there is missing or incorrect information on this site. We encourage you to contact the resource centre directly to confirm information of interest to you. Links to other sites are provided for your convenience; we do not endorse these sites or their content.

The Nova Scotia Council for the Family plans to make updates to the directory in 2004/5 as funding allows. Organizations listed in the directory who wish to report changes are encouraged to e-mail the changes to the Council at nscf@gov.ns.ca.
In the event we are able to expand the directory in the future and you know of a program which should be included, please let us know by contacting nscf@gov.ns.ca.

This Family Connections project was made possible by the financial assistance of the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Early Childhood Development Initiative and the support and guidance of the members of the Parenting Committee of the Nova Scotia Council for the Family. Our able Committee Chair Kara MacNeil, kept us on track, hard at work, and helped us overcome the occasional challenges along the way. We would also like to acknowledge the many contributions of Eileen Kilfoil, Project Manager. Eileen provided the technical expertise, developed the data collection instrument, collected the data through interviews, designed the database, and created the online directory as well as the NSCF website. Quite an accomplishment in a few short months! Eileen was assisted by Michelle Tessier, who converted the data and designed the hard-copy version of the directory. They were quite a team!
