Hours of Operation: Not centre-based. Can usually be reached Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Not centre-based.

Established: 1993

Clientele: Hants and Annapolis Valley families with children ages 0-6 who may be disadvantaged due to one or more of the following factors: poverty, poor health and nutrition, abuse and neglect, violence, inadequate local support services, social or geographical isolation, social and/or emotional problems.

Are user fees charged? No

Any eligibility requirements?
  • Children have to be 0 to 6
  • Criteria for Great Beginnings program is pregnancy
  • Attached to the transition house (Chrysallis House) so criteria there applies
  • Priority population fits into definition above. If seats are available, open to general community provided priority population has been given the seats required
Major Funder: Public Health Agency of Canada (CAPC), Public Health Agency of Canada (CPNP)

Other Funders: Nova Scotia Literacy, Children’s Emergency Foundation, local community organizations (rental space in particular) in-kind annual donation of $32,000, staff annual donation of $15,000 in office and communication equipment.

Annual Operating Budget (range): $300,000-$499,999

Future Program Development: Family Literacy/Education Upgrading Opportunities. Centre conducted educational upgrading programs in the past. Want to be involved in the future either as the bridge or as the ones to bring the programs back to the community
