This annual awards program recognizes the achievements of youth in care of child welfare in Nova Scotia. It is intended to honour those who have shown outstanding perseverance in the face of life challenges. An annual awards luncheon is held each November when friends, family, child welfare staff, and community members come together to celebrate the youth and their accomplishments.

The ninth annual Youth Achievement Awards were held Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Best Western Glengarry in Truro.  38 outstanding youth were honored for their accomplishments.  Prof. David Divine, James Robinson Johnston Chair in Black Canadian Studies, Dalhousie University, and Professor of Social Work, Dalhousie University, was invited to deliver the keynote address.  His notes are available here.
